relations with the british

hey im new to this kind of thing, but im studying the reasons for why the apartheid regime was established for my school history individual assignment
basically ive only just started researching it so i dont know much about it at the moment, the only thing i'm having trouble finding out about is what happenned to the British when south africa came under afrikaner rule
historically, the British had treated the Boers pretty badly so I dont understand why they werent targeted more
....oh i have SO MUCH research to do! ive never studied south african history before and now i have to do a 4 hour exam on it in a couple of months!
